Arbeidet med å bedre folkehelsen på landsbygda i Norge og i Niger er ikke så ulikt som en skulle tro, i følge lege Anders Seim. På syvende året mottar han støtte fra Kavlifondet for arbeidet for å hindre blokkert fødsel i Niger.
Da ghanesiske Vincent Subbey bodde og studerte i Tromsø på 1990-tallet, ble han så inspirert av hvordan nordmenn tar vare på de svakeste i samfunnet at han lot akademiske planer fare for å hjelpe de svake i sitt eget hjemland.
En ny studie, delvis finansiert av Kavlifondet, tyder på at PDH-enzymet er hemmet i ME pasienter, noe som kan forklare både energimangel og økt melkesyreproduksjon. Funnene er nå publisert i Journal of Clinical Investigation Insight.
A new study, partly funded by the Kavli Trust, suggests that the PDH enzyme is inhibited in ME/CFS patients, which may explain both energy shortage and increased lactate production in these patients. These findings have now been published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation Insight.
